The practice is lead by a partner who is a Chartered Architect. As part of our commitment to Client service the partner will be responsible for ensuring we deliver to you the services you require.

We are committed to a programme of Continuing Professional Development and all staff are encouraged and supported in the development of their individual skills and abilities.

Curriculum Vitae for senior staff members

Simon J Potter BA DipArch RIBA
Graduated from Liverpool with Distinction in 1985 and joined Building Design Partnership in Preston. Engaged on large scale multi-million pound office and retail projects in Ealing, Ipswich, Birkenhead and Leeds. Joined the practice’s Building Technology Group and produced in-house Product Quality Guides.

In 1991 joined John Potter Architect as an Associate to work on a range of construction and consultancy projects. 1995 became a partner in the practice.

Since 1995 has provided services under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and acts as CDM Co-ordinator under those Regulations for a number of Clients and is also the Partner responsible for CPD and staff training within JPA.

Simon Potter is frequently instructed to prepare expert witness reports in connection with building litigation, adjudication and arbitration.

Robert Wann ABIAT
Qualified as an Architectural Technologist in 1973 and is an associate member of the British Institute of Architectural Technologists. Joined FaulknerBrowns in Killingworth in 1970 working for several years on leisure centres and health buildings before gaining experience working for three years in Toronto, Canada on shopping malls and multi-storey office developments.

Robert joined John Potter Architect in 1981 and was appointed Associate in 1990. During 1995 worked to assist FaulknerBrowns in the £120 million Greenock Leisure Centre which includes wet, dry and ice sports. He is extensively involved in the building pathology work of the Practice and has extensive experience of examining building failures and preparing remedial schemes.

John D Carr BA(Hons) BArch RIBA

Graduated from Manchester School of Architecture in 2006 and joined Ryder Architecture in Newcastle. Engaged on large scale educational, commercial and residential projects throughout the north east. Also a member of the firm's Urban Design Team working on Masterplans including for the North Shore Project in Stockton, and schemes for both Newcastle and Gateshead.

John joined John Potter Architect Limited in 2010 and is involved in much of the firm's private client work, particularly the design and specification of roofing and joinery elements as well as internal fitting out. John spent some years as a member of the Air Training Corps and continues his interest in flying. He is working towards aquiring his pilot's licence in due course. He has now successfully completed his professional practice examination and has been elected to the Royal Institute of British Architects.
